Tutorial 034: Coiled Bangle

Level: Very advanced

This bangle tutorial is not for the faint of heart: approximately 25 feet of wire is required and many hours of patient hand-coiling. The result is worth it: make this one for yourself, and boy will your friends be jealous!

Materials:

  • 18 feet of 28 ga wire
  • 1 foot of stainless steel memory wire for core (read below)
  • 5 feet of 26 ga wire
  • 7 to 9 fat stone beads (8 to 12mm)
  • 2 large 13mm round Bali beads
  • 8 contrasting color 4mm round beads
  • 1 commercial or handmade hook clasp
  • 1 inch large link chain
  • 40 2mm silver beads
  • 16 to 20 3mm silver beads

    Tip #1: Memory Wire

Instead of using silver wire for the core of the bangle, try using 24ga stainless steel NECKLACE memory wire. It's sturdier and will not snap easily under the weight of the stones.

Also, it allows you to use those fancy 'small-hole' hand-carved stones we love so much... :-)

Tip #2: Use charms and extensions

Add animals and small charms to the bangle using coiled wire extensions, for added interest.
