Tutorial 010:
Coiled Toggle Clasp

Level: Intermediate

The clasp of a piece is the finishing touch of an artistic piece of jewelry. Adding a handmade toggle immediately says to the world: this is a special piece which deserved a special clasp.

With this lesson, you also learn how to join two pieces of wire using back-coil weaving, derived from basketry.

The toggle is made of two parts, constructed separately: the ring and the bar.

Materials for toggle:
12 inches 16ga (or 18ga) soft or half-hard wire
6 feet 28ga (or 26ga) round soft wire
3 5mm daisy spacer
2 2mm bead
