Green Bud Necklace
I created this necklace as the first entry for the new Year of Jewelry (now renamed Four Seasons of Jewelry), using green stones of various textures combined with golden elements. I normally don't combine green
and yellow (or gold) together because it reminds me of the Brazilian flag, but I guess that lately I've been a tad homesick :-) .
This necklace is a potpourri of different wire techniques, including the herringbone weave, a capped drop, and coiled bezel.
The stones are also a varied mix, including jade, green garnets, sparkling cubic zirconia and unakite -- all woven with goldfilled wire and embellished with vermeil beads.
The length of the necklace is 20 inches long and the focal drop measures 1" x 1 1/4" (2.5 x 3 cm). About 20 feet of hair thin wire was used to weave and coil the entire piece.
A friend commented the focal piece reminded her of a flower bud, therefore the name.
As usual, no solder or glue were used to create this piece.
