Tutorial 055: Net Bezel Pendant

Level: advanced

This lesson shows how to trap a cabochon in a netted bezel, creating a fabulously elegant pendant. The technique is so versatile it can be adapted to range from simple and elegant to heavily ornate.

This lesson can also be combined with the Border for Net Bezel, to create very organic looking pieces.

Materials for the pendant:

  • 10 inches 18ga round soft wire
  • 10 feet 28 ga round soft wire
  • 1 cabochon, beach glass or pebble  measuring approximately 1-1/2" by 1"
  • Approximately 25 1mm metallic beads
  •

Note 1: although you can use any shape and size stone you like, make sure the stone is relatively flat on the back. This makes it easier to trap it in the net.

Note 2: Although the thickness can vary, prefer flatter cabs, since they are easier to net. The example used here is 1/4" thick.
