YOJ 2005 Week 36

I've been in bed rest for the last week but still had a chance to work on pieces for the YOJ weeks. This necklace is a gift I made for Mother's Day:

The theme of the week is Amulet/Talisman, and for the first time in weeks I feel that I have somehow followed the theme a bit. The donut is rodosite; the beads are pink jade and rose quartz.

YOJ 2005 Week 35

The theme for this week is "Earthly Elements". I might try to work on something on this theme next week, since it's such an interesting theme.

This is another one of those marine inspired pieces. It sort of reminds me of the Tsunami Bracelet created for week 20:

Tidal Wave Bracelet with clouded aquamarine nuggets and sterling silver.

YOJ 2005 Week 34

The theme for this week is "Spring spectacular" and... you already guessed: I didn't fulfill the theme at all. It seems like I'm on a mission to make marine theme designs and also rings. I just can't help it!

This necklace was made to match the Pink Paella bracelet created for week 26:

Pink Paella necklace.

The piece measures 2.5 inches wide and has a variety of interesting materials. The top row has a silver hilltribe shell, a natural shell and a hard-to-find natural banded chalcedony nugget. The bottom row displays two large pearls flanking two very rare real angel skin coral rondelles (not dyed). The briolettes are pink opals.

YOJ 2005 Week 33

The theme for this week is "Fantasy" and I feel like once again I missed a good opportunity: after all, my former career in computer graphics was ALL about fantasy. I might still work on this theme on a future week.

Continuing on the Ring thread, this one was created for a commission: a stunning light green roughly faceted tourmaline bead is used as a focal stone, with a rather large turtle flanking it. (when I say large, I mean larger than the minuscule animals used before; the turtle measures 1/2" long by 3/8" wide -- 11x8mm).

I feel like the technique is getting better so I wanted to show the underside of the ring as well:

Turtle/tourmaline ring: roughly faceted tourmaline set in sterling silver wire and turtle. Size 7. Not for sale.

The stone and setting measure 3/4" in diameter altogether.
