Tutorial 013: Ornamental Rectangular Centerpiece

Level: Advanced

This centerpiece was originally designed to be used in a double strand bracelet, but with a few changes can also be used as a pendant.

The piece is created by connecting two separate elements, similar to the construction used in traditional filigree, but with a lot more detail.

Materials for one centerpiece:

  • 16 inches of 16 or 18 ga wire (soft or half-hard)
  • 40 to 50 beads, in various shapes, colors and materials, measuring between 4 to 6mm wide. Beads must fit on 24 ga wire.
  • Approx. 14 feet of soft 26 or 28 ga wire.
  • 2 6mm ornate Bali beads
  • 4 2mm Bali cylindrical spacers
  • 40 to 50 silver seed beads, measuring 1 to 3mm.
  • 2 4mm rose-montees (rhinestones attached to prongs).

Price: US$ 7.00

What Magda did with this tutorial:

Magdalena Atelier got so inspired by this tutorial, she worked on several variations. These are just a few: a pair of earrings, a ring and a stunning necklace which she combined with the Coiled Bangle tutorial. Notice how Magda changed not only the shape of the outer frame, but also the types of beads wrapped inside the frame.
