Shnek shading challenge

This week's shading challenge is focusing on Shnek, a tangle originally deconstructed by Hanny Nura (step out here). I had tried Shnek a little while ago and had not felt the groove of it, but this time I was determined to figure it out.

Notice how the shading is done in layers, or groupings: there are distinct islands of shnek (that sounded weird, lol), each one with their unique characteristics, and the shadows separate each area from the next.

I really like the different pen widths!

Tangles: Shnek, Hollibaugh and Crescent Moon, also some echo lines (not a tangle, it's a visual depth enhancer).
