Single pen hatching Yincut, Ixorus and Ennies

Cross Hatching was, without a doubt, my very first encounter with traditional art classes. Although I thought of myself as an artist since 8 years old, I only took formal art classes starting in my mid-teens. I remember using a nib pen and thinking how nice it felt to just making repetitive strokes with the ink.

One of my students has asked me for a long time to create a class using a single pen to create the work from beginning to end, INCLUDING shading (no pencil). So every now and then I work on a piece without the use of any pencil shading, to see if it can be easily translated into a class. We'll see.

Of course I had to run an Art Classic (in Guided mode, where it offers only a string and a few tangles). Interesting selection, I wouldn't have chosen these, but I'm glad it gave me an opportunity to explore.

Below you can see a short step-out of the progress. One of the characteristics of this style is that it takes a LOOOOONG time to complete, with hundreds of little tiny lines and dots. Well, I'm not going anywhere, am I?

I used a single 01 Micron pen, no cheating with a thinner pen. Tangles used were: Ennies, Hollibaugh, Yincut, Snail and Ixorus (all Zentangle). Here is a close-up for you to inspect the little tiny lines:
