Slab and Moon

It's always fun when you find a new tangle you enjoy! This one I uncovered due to Tasmin Rootman's Duotangle Adventures challenge to use Crescent Moon (Zentangle, Inc.) and Slab (find the deconstructed steps by Shazia in the FB group here or you can find the stepout here). 

As I always do, I played with Slab a bit to find it's "dimensionality":

I really enjoyed this version of Slab, and I love Crescent Moon. Here's the line art of the tile:

And here is the final tile, after shading with lots of contour hatching (using the same micron used to make the line-art and a little bit of pencil:

I think Slab and Crescent Moon are too similar in nature, they lack a bit of contrast since both are have parallel lines. I tried to break the similarity by adding stripes to Slab and adding ornamental auras, but I feel it was not enough, perhaps if I really separated them into very specific string sections?  

Still, I enjoyed the process tremendously! I might have to just make another one!
