I'm teaching someone who is having a very difficult time getting where they want to be, and even accepting that the process is very gradual and continuous. This has inspired me to create a series of tangled quotes. This is one of them:

This tile only has three tangles: Garlic Cloves, Crescent Moon and Florz. I used watercolor to paint the background:

I like how soft and irregular the coloring turns out produced by watercolors. I tangled over it with colored inking pens:

And finally, I shaded it with colored pencils and graphite pencil. Here's the final picture again:

I'm particularly in love with the final effect, but then again, I have to remember that progress is not always linear -- as I'm trying to teach :-)
