Drawing lace with family

public.jpeg

While on vacation with family, one of my favorite things to do is to draw with my many nieces and nephews. We have such a great time together! I brought black tiles and white gel pens and showed them how to create lacey pictures. Here's my niece Tami, totally focused. Look at that Zen flow!

I purposely selected this project for them because I thought it would be a good one for the kids of all ages. Look at the mosaic we created:

I had already tangled with my nieces when they came to visit me in LA, but I had not tangled with my nephew Yoni, perhaps he was a little bashful. I am especially proud of him for diving in and doing such a great job. I think he was rather surprised at his own results Look at all those happy smiles!

Even my wonderful son sat to draw, he did his own thing. I love his crazy style of drawing. Mischief brewing…

Here's a close-up of our mosaic again. I think this project is especially good for kids, they love the effect of white gel pen over black paper. I did some adapting and used the same drop motif over and over, and did not switch to different pens to keep things simpler.
